OUR CHOICES

In this edition we are going to highlight an issue that has been causing people some concern.Paws
Recently one of our beloved pets was removed from a veterinary surgery after being euthanased, but while the owner was still deeply mourning this loss. Because of the shock and grief a decision was not made at the time as to what the client wanted for her dog.  This pet was then taken by a contractor to the local animal landfill area.

When we have to have our pet put to sleep, or he dies suddenly, our bodies go into shock and we are often unable to make rational decisions, especially about our choices with regard to our just passed pet.

This is such a difficult time for all the family, and knowing that your pet has been treated with the dignity and respect he deserves gives us great relief. Making our decisions BEFORE our pet has passed is strongly recommended, so that we can grieve knowing everything is being carried out to our express instructions.
Vets and nurses will usually discuss all your options with you before your pets’ euthanasia, but if not, then let them know of your decisions before your appointment if possible. We also have an authorisation certificate
. In Brisbane and on the Gold coast we have FOUR CHOICES.

  1. Individual cremation. You or the vet will arrange a personal pick up of your pet; you will then deal with the cremation company directly from then on. Your ashes are returned to you personally within 7 days. Cost: from $300.00

  2. Group cremation. Also handled by the cremation company, where 2-3 pets are cremated together and their ashes scattered for you. Cost $210.00

  3. Home burial. You would take your pet home after the euthanasia.

  4. Group burial. your pet is taken to a council animal landfill area.

Always remember: THE CHOICE IS COMPLETELY YOURS. They are part of our family and the choice we make for them must make us feel comfortable with that decision. We all have different reasons for our choices which are why we have different options. The main point is that you are made aware of your choices at a time when you can properly absorb what is being said to you.
Your vets, nurses and pet cremation people are always available to help you at this very difficult time. Never be afraid to discuss this with them. We have all been through heartbreaking times with our pets, so we understand how hard this time can be.
Our thoughts are with the families who have gone through this difficult time of not knowing where their pet has been laid to rest.

THE JOURNEY

I just wanted to let you know that I made it home.

The journey wasn’t an easy one, but it didn’t take too long.

Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh, so new.

I wish that you could close your eyes and see it too.

Please don’t be too sad, I miss you so much too.

It’s beautiful here where I am, but I worry a lot about you.

The sun this morning was the brightest I’ve seen and the grass is greener than green.

I can even hear your loving
voice when you speak to me in your dreams.

An angel held my paw today and said I had to say goodbye.

She said that souls like mine are rare, so it’s time to spread my wings and fly.

I’m being made an angel here so if you look closely and believe, you will see a bright new star
to remind you I’ll always be near…..

Congratulations to Zoo Studios for winning the Paws and Claws Award. Highly recommended by Pets Eternal

IS YOUR PET GETTING THE RIGHT WATER?
Animals, like humans, need water to survive. And, like humans, animals are about 80% water. So, most animal experts will agree that pets should be given the same quality water as humans: PURE CLEAN WATER. Tap water can contain many harmful things, even parasites. And, they don't discriminate between pets and people!

KC's Story

My family and I got KC near the end of 1993, I was 15yrs old. He was an 11wk old kitten who, when we saw him in the pet store was “play” fighting with another kitten and it looked like he was trying to kill the other kitten so that’s how his name came about KC short for “Killer Cat”. He was a big comfort to me, I always wanted a cat and earlier on in the same year we got KC, my Grandfather had passed away, KC helped me a lot through the grieving process of my grandfather.

KCKC was also a very brave and tough cat. His favourite thing was taking on the puppy dogs of our family. Just showing them who was boss so to speak. One was my Aunt’s dog which was a Boarder Collie named “Stimpy” and the other was our dog aKC and Stimpy Staffordshire Bull Terrier x Cattle Dog named “Keesha”

KC would never give you cuddles when you wanted some, it was always on his terms, and then you would be there for quite some time giving HIM cuddles, he would playfully let you know he was done
with the cuddles with a little bite on the arm. He was his own cat,and let everyone know it!

In 2005 at the age of 12 he became very sick and I took him to the vet, for them to discover he had feline diabetes. He had to get an insulin injection twice a day. He had his ups and downs with that, but he was a fighter and got on as normal.

I have been so privileged to have KC in my life, he was and always will be my baby boy. He took a piece of my heart with him when he passed away on the 9th September at the age of 16yrs and 11mths. I know he is around me, I at times hear his meows, and I find myself looking for him.

I love you KC boy, always and forever, you will live on in my heart and memories. I will be seeing you again one day at Rainbow Bridge my little man.

Love always
Mummy

I am privileged that you allowed me to be a part of your wonderful life; my life will be forever enriched for knowing your spirit. You will be in my heart forever. I will see you again someday at Rainbow Bridge

Love and kisses
Aunty Debbie

KC

I love and miss you. I am happy knowing you are with my little girl Keesha keeping her company until I see you both again. You were and always will be my buddy boy.
Love Daddy

KC

To all at Pets Eternal

My family and I lost KC in the early hours of Thursday morning, he was 16yrs and 11mths old. I had told the vet I wanted Pets Eternal to take care of him, and they said they would arrange everything for me.

Everytime I had contact with Pets Eternal, it made me feel happy knowing my baby boy was being looked after until I had him back home again. It has been so hard for me over these last few days, KC took a piece of my heart with him when he passed away, no one will ever fill that hole again.

It is good to finally have KC home again, I find myself looking over at his final resting place and saying hello to him.

I would like this chance to say a big thankyou to everyone who took care of KC and for showing him the dignity and respect in death that he had with his family in life. My family and I will be forever grateful.

Thankyou

Stacey (KC's mum) Al (KC's dad) Debbie (KC's aunty)
